Kenya National Library Service (knls) Board is a state corporation under Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage, State Department for Culture and Heritage. The Board was established by an Act of Parliament Cap 225 of the Laws of Kenya (1965). The Act mandates the Board to promote, establish, equip, manage, maintain and develop libraries in Kenya.
The Board performs a dual role of both the National Library of Kenya and the Public Library System.
The Board has a network of 62 branch libraries spread in 33 counties and are coordinated centrally from knls Headquarter, Nairobi.
